We have author, S.C. York, doing a guest review of Ruckus today! I am having the hardest time reading right now, I haven’t read a book in over a week!  So, she is stepping in and guest posting a very heartfelt review that I adore!  You can find her debut novel on Amazon.  It’a a great beach read.

I am an avid reader, always have been. Scrolling through the Kindle store one day I stumbled upon Sparrow by LJ Shen. It was the first book of hers that I read, and I was completely hooked by the story and characters that she created. RUCKUS is a completely different story but the quality of writing and depth of character development is impeccable.

RUCKUS was a story that struck a chord in me for so many reasons. I was able to connect with this story so deeply because I personally know someone who’s past from cystic fibrosis. Like “baby Leblanc” she found the love of her life at an early age, despite not wanting to saddle him with her terminally illness, he was determined that she would have her day in a white dress and all the dreams that he could give her. It was a beautiful love story just like the one LJ Shen created. Christine lost her battle with CF and although devastated, her husband always knew since the moment they met at fifteen that the day would come when the illness would take her. But he made sure they “lived” very much in the moment.
I feel that LJ Shen did a tremendous job showing the aspects of the illness, and how it not only affects the person living with it, but how it also affects the ones around that person. Dean Cole was a truly swoon worthy character but he battles his own demons and disease. The way she depicted his struggle with alcohol was spot on. I dated somebody that was an alcoholic it was ugly, it was brutal, it truly is just as much of a disease as anything else. What makes this love story a five star all the way, was how LJ Shen blended love, lust, sickness, and life and wrapped it all up into an epic love story that will suck you in and have you rooting for them all. Can’t wait to see what she writes next!

They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They’re right.
No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking.
He is my forbidden, shiny apple.
The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth.
He is also my sister’s ex-boyfriend.
One thing you should know before you judge me;
I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first.
Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance.
Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. My white knight has finally arrived. Hopefully, he isn’t too late.

They say the brightest stars burn out the fastest. They’re right.
She sets my mind on fire.
All smart mouth, snarky attitude and a huge heart.
In a world where everything is dull, she shines like fucking Sirius.
Eleven years ago, fate tore us apart.
This time, I fucking dare it to try.
Getting to her is a battlefield, but man, that’s why they call me Ruckus.
Rosie LeBlanc is about to find out how hard I can fight.
And conquering her will be the sweetest victory.
