From USA Today Bestselling Author, L. j. Charles:
I’m excited to welcome everyone into the world of Everly Gray. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or comments. I love to hear from my readers!
All of my stories have mystery, romance, and metaphysical elements.
First off, I’m going to share some background on the Everly Gray stories to give you, as new potential readers, a frame of reference.
In the Everly Gray Adventures I intended to grow her personality in tandem with her experiences–a ‘coming of age’ series so to speak.
In a Touch of Ice, Everly’s emotional age is closer to a twenty-something than her actual thirty-something. She’s hidden from the world to protect herself from the overwhelming amount of information her ESP fingertips pick up, and has focused on her personal coaching business to the exclusion of life experiences. This book is currently free on Amazon, iBooks, Nook, Kobo, and Google Play.
Everly Gray’s fingers are a magnet for trouble. When she touches photographer Mitchell Hunt and sees the image of a dead body, she dives into the murder fingertips first. Life takes a turn for the dangerous when she discovers the body is related to a small-time crime family that accidentally stepped on the toes of notorious criminal, Delano West. Caught in a web of intrigue where nothing is as it seems, El discovers an aptitude for breaking and entering, the pain of an up close and personal meeting with a bullet, and the terror of facing a cold-blooded killer. What she doesn’t learn–to keep her fingers to herself.
A Touch of TNT brings her into the ‘tumultuous twenties,’ and she begins to share her gifts, using them to help law enforcement.
Having ESP in her fingertips gives new meaning to “get the picture,” and for Everly Gray it’s a one-way ticket to trouble. With fear nipping at her heels, out of control curiosity, and a reluctant request from the chief of police for help with a case, she stumbles across, not one, but two dead bodies. What she knows puts her in the path of a killer. What she doesn’t know—she’ll be the one pulling the trigger.
In To Touch a Thief, Everly stretches her wings to become a leader rather than a follower.
Forensic accountant Jayne Hunt will do whatever it takes to catch the thief stealing charitable contributions from Steele Management, Inc.—even if it means asking Everly Gray and her bothersome ESP fingers for help.
Parker Steele has a solid, tactical strategy to disrupt Jayne’s spreadsheet fixation with his charms, and claim her for his own—until family secrets, a dirty cop, and a dangerous toxin blow his plan to bits and put their lives in imminent danger.
A Touch of the Past brings her to a critical turning point. She faces her heritage and begins to accept who she is as she catches up to her true chronological age.
Everly Gray’s past would have been laid to rest with her parents…if only she hadn’t opened an old letter and unleashed long-hidden secrets.
Now everything she believes in, everything she trusts, is gone. Except her genetic link to the secrets of an ancient toxin—lethal, unless she finds the antidote.
When those close to her are poisoned, and traditional medicine has run out of options, Everly’s one hope is to learn the magic of Hawaiian shamanism, and to accept her gifts as a Kahuna healer.
Free fall. No parachute. Until she learns to trust in the strength of who she is, and in the universal power of love.
In a Touch of Betrayal, Everly becomes an adult and discovers ‘the other side of romance.’ This is not a happy-ever-after story, but it does open the door for a new world of adventure.
Bored, restless, and ever curious, Everly Gray schedules a week off from her personal coaching business, takes her ESP fingers out of protective custody, and begins to explore the remains of her parents’ property. It’s time for her to track their killers and bring them to justice.
That’s the plan. Until one of her so-called friends kidnaps her for an impromptu trip to Hawaii, and she discovers the pain of betrayal. Can she find the strength to stand alone?
Before he married Everly, Mitchell Hunt made a bargain with the devil—and lost. When he shows up in Hawaii to make things right, danger follows. Things escalate when a rogue government agent, and a militant psychopath with her gang of minions vie for control of Everly and her healing gifts.
Mitch’s betrayal has flipped his relationship with Everly to the other side of romance—and there’s no way back. Or is there?
To Touch Poison is the story of Everly’s parents and provides the background for the rest of the series.
TO TOUCH POISON is chronologically a prequel to the Everly series as it’s the story of Everly’s parents. It can be read as book 5 (the way it was originally written) or as the first book in the series. Readers’ choice!
A lethal toxin, the promise of an antidote, and the possibility of a healing drug—three variations of the same formula, all worth a fortune on the black market. Responsibility for the research rests in Loyria Gray’s capable hands. She thinks the CIA has her back, but no, they toss her into the middle of a black ops mission, and she’s forced to run for her life.
James Gray is a genius with ciphers and cryptography. He’s found his niche with the CIA, working under cover as a practicing attorney, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect Loyria and their child.
Temporary refuge in Hawaii allows them to build a family, but that dream is shattered when they’re forced to run yet again. And now they have something more important to protect—their daughter. Everly was born with ESP fingers, proof that something in the formula is connected to psychic awareness. Or is it? How will they protect her from the government, and the traitors who want to steal the formulas and sell them to the highest bidder?
In a Touch of Revenge, Everly meets Caitlin Connor (Caitlin’s Tarot: The Ola Boutique Mysteries) and steps into the role of making difficult life decisions that result in lasting consequences.
Revenge is sweet. Or is it?
When Everly Gray learns who killed her parents, she’s ready to take revenge, but has nowhere to start. Frustrated, she makes an unplanned detour to search her murdered husband’s study. When she discovers a possible location for the person behind the assassination, Everly follows that lead to the English Riviera. Things go sideways, however, when she learns someone has been stalking her and collecting surreptitious photographs since she was a baby.
In a surprising role reversal, Tynan Pierce has agreed to be Everly’s backup. He gives her control over the investigation and, with complete trust, over her subsequent revenge. But something isn’t right with him. Complications escalate when the investigation leads them to Ireland and to Pierce’s childhood home.
Everly’s feelings for Tynan, a man she’s had a long-standing hands-off attraction with, throw one more snag into her mission. Revenge is finally at her ESP fingertips, but at what cost to Pierce and his family? …and to her?
The final book in this series, a Touch of Intrigue, gives Everly her Happy Ever After.
Time bombs explode around Everly Gray, uncovering dangerous secrets. After thirty years, the complex web of intrigue created to protect her has begun to unravel, laying bare a shocking conspiracy, and leaving her alienated from her past, and exposed to a master of manipulation.
With her hefty dose of curiosity and a drive to live in truth, Everly is determined to follow the conspiracy to its core and heal the damaged roots of her life.
Tynan Pierce has been a moving target for most of his adult life—normal for a covert agent working black ops, but not okay for a man who’s fallen in love and wants to build a lasting relationship. He’ll protect Everly at any cost, even if they have to live apart.
Tynan and Everly’s hearts and souls beat as one, but what will happen when her ESP fingers and his Circle of Nine gifts merge? Will these two strong-willed people be able to share their intuitive gifts and build a future together?
As Everly matured, she pushed my boundaries as a writer, and if you decide to start reading this series, I hope you enjoy the ride as a reader as much as I did as a writer.
See Everly a little more in Caitlin’s Tarot: The Ola Boutique Mysteries (Ceann and Dhá are the first two books in Caitlin’s Tarot: The Ola Boutique series. Each book consists of three episodes. Ceann means one in Gaelic, and Dhá means two. These books, as well as individual copies of the six episodes, have purchase links on my website and directly available through Amazon, iBooks, Nook, and Kobo.) and teamed up with Tynan Pierce in the TaP Team series. I’ve added them below in chronological order:
This is a bundle of the first three episodes in Caitlin’s Tarot:
You can never escape from murder…
At least that’s how it seems to Caitlin Connor. Blessed with funky DNA, she’s able to see auras, read Tarot cards, and oh, yeah, she also packs the powerful ability to manipulate energy—the same energy that was instrumental in her mother’s death.
Ready for a new beginning, Caitlin leaves her estate on the English Riviera in her aunt’s capable hands, and with a hefty dose of optimism, travels to Hawaii’s North Shore to practice her newly learned art of reading Tarot cards.
Day one: Caitlin is faced with her personal prophecy. Day two: she trips over a dead body and hits the Honolulu PD’s suspect list. Whoever said life in paradise was idyllic didn’t know Caitlin Connor.
Can she find the killer and get on with living her dream, or will her future be limited to a jail cell?
It was going to be a witchy kind of day…
Working at the Ola Boutique wasn’t in Caitlin’s plans, but it provides the perfect opportunity to build a following for her Tarot readings, and to search for whoever killed Ted Thatcher. Her destiny, standing for truth and justice, demands she find the murderer, and free Ola Boutique’s owner, Hannah Matthews, from being convicted of a crime she didn’t commit.
New to working with her Wiccan heritage, Caitlin accidentally summons an apparition of Thatcher. His only message is a single word—witch. Like Hannah. And like Caitlin.
How will Caitlin find the guilty witch when she’s barely dipped her toes into the Craft? And what if the guilty witch really is Hannah?
She stands for truth and justice…
Hannah is still in jail. The person who killed Ted Thatcher is still at large. And Caitlin is determined to track down the real killer, even if it means she has to join a coven.
Officer Jace Porter believes in Hannah’s innocence and wants to help Caitlin, but getting involved puts him in the uncomfortable position of butting into a forbidden case—one his captain considers closed.
Determined to discover the truth, Caitlin learns to use her gifts in unexpected ways, and when she’s forced to confront hidden evil, she begins to accept the true beauty of her midnight energy.
It’s only a matter of time before Caitlin will need to unleash her power to balance the scales of justice.
Let the countdown begin…
Everly Gray and Tynan Pierce, her sexy, secretive husband, take on projects no one else wants to deal with. Known as the TaP Team (Touch and Persuade), they combine the best in extrasensory perception and tactical ability.
And then they accept the Lecoq contract.
It should have been a slam-dunk. A straightforward assignment to expose the truth behind a manufacturing company’s government contract, and it offered a perfect opportunity for Everly to practice her undercover skills.
Embarking on a joint career is a dream come true for Pierce and Everly—until the nightmare edges in, they discover the contract is a fake, and death hovers, waiting in every corner.
Dhá is the bundle of The Hermit, The Devil, and The Tower.
The Hermit—Illuminate the secrets
An unexplained package.
A good friend missing.
And within hours Caitlin Connor and her trusted Tarot cards are deep in the thick of things. But she’s not alone. Caitlin, Hannah, and Ebba, a powerful trio of witches, will need the Tarot and their Wiccan skills to expose the secrets behind the Alaina’s disappearance.
The Devil: Look beyond the obvious
An ethereal message has her bumping athame-first into the Hawaiian mafia, where she discovers more questions than answers, and plenty of trouble—namely an unidentified corpse.
The Tower: Shatter illusions
And Caitlin Connor finds herself going toe-to-toe with not one, but two Mafia families, who just happen to be fighting over the same parcel of land. They’re willing to eliminate anyone who stands in their way, including Cait and the women she’s trying to protect.
Let the countdown begin…
Vlad Koslov has a vendetta, and Tynan Pierce is his target.
Pierce has sworn to protect two material witnesses—a routine job for his company, TaP Security, until Koslov accepts a contract with organized crime to assassinate the witnesses.
Seventeen years of history and hatred explode when Koslov discovers Pierce is the obstacle protecting his targets. The evil born deep in Koslov’s psyche pushes him to delay fulfilling the contract so he can achieve his vendetta by eliminating Pierce’s family and friends. One. By. One.
Everly Gray, Pierce’s wife and partner, isn’t about to allow Koslov to murder the people she holds dear, especially not her husband
Pierce and Everly stand together as the TaP Team. Their mission: to protect the innocent in the chaos of a perfect storm.
Up next in the line up is BIRTHRIGHT 02: The TaP Team

About L. j. Charles
I have worked with energy both as a yoga instructor and as a body worker for many years. When I left that profession behind, I was driven to write about energy and the metaphysical. Many of the situations my heroines experience are created from my personal experience.
I’m a USA Today Bestselling Author of award-winning women’s fiction. All of my stories combine romance, mystery, and metaphysical elements. The Everly Gray Adventures, The TaP Team series, and Caitlin’s Tarot all have intersecting characters that cross over between the stories.
North Carolina is my home. I share living space with my husband, whose TBR stack is taller than mine (and that’s saying a lot), and two felines who have been known to add entire pages to a manuscript without telling me.
*A note from Shannon: I highly recommend this entire series, including spin-offs! Everly Gray is an extremely relatable character. You will love her and all of the other characters as well. She is fiesty, sweet, smart, humble, and generous. Get ready for a new favorite heroine and book boyfriend to rival all others!
If you love Colleen Helme’s Shelby Nichols, Denise Grover Swank’s Rose Gardner, and Gina LaManna’s Lily Locke you will feel right at home with Everly Gray!
