Alice moves to Charleston and a new job as a pilot instructor to escape her strict mother and start a life for herself. While she roams and explores the town she decides to visit a baseball game. Rafe is the pitcher of the game and soon after they meet at the bar of his best friend.

Rafe at first just tries to charm Alice into his bed, but she manages to keep a distance. And while Alice is doing some crazy stuff in her quest for life he realizes she is real and funny and deserves someone good. But he is waiting for his ticket into the majors, so he is actually not the right person.

Alice and Rafe fall in love. Will they have a future or will their romance fizzle when Rafe leaves for another team?

Enjoyed this story and loved the ending and epilogue.
