#Live “Curious Minds” by Janet Evanovich & Phoef Sutton

Curious MindsEmerson Knight is introverted, eccentric, and has little to no sense of social etiquette. Good thing he’s also brilliant, rich, and (some people might say) handsome, or he’d probably be homeless. Riley Moon has just graduated from Harvard Business and Harvard Law. Her aggressive Texas spitfire attitude has helped her land her dream job as a junior analyst with mega-bank Blane-Grunwald. At least Riley Moon thought it was her dream job, until she is given her first assignment: babysitting Emerson Knight.

What starts off as an inquiry about missing bank funds in the Knight account leads to inquiries about a missing man, missing gold, and a life-and-death race across the country. Through the streets of Washington, D.C., and down into the underground vault of the Federal Reserve in New York City, an evil plan is exposed. A plan so sinister that only a megalomaniac could think it up, and only the unlikely duo of the irrepressibly charming Emerson Knight and the tenacious Riley Moon can stop it.

4 stars

This was my very first Janet Evanovich novel. (I know I’m late to the game.)

From the epilogue to the ending I was kept on my toes wondering what would happen next! You are taken into the seedy underbelly of lies that rich men and politicians in the country wanted to keep under wraps. From DC, to the Federal Reserve in NY to Area 51 you will travel across the country trying to figure out what is happening to all of the gold. The strange relationship between Riley and Emerson is why I gave this novel 4 stars instead of 5. I couldn’t decide if they were into each other or not. At times I thought they were flirting, but I’m not sure because Emerson was just well… weird. Romance (or lack there of) aside the novel was brilliant and well written.

I’m from Texas just like our leading lady, Riley. She is a feisty little Texas woman who goes after what she wants and what she believes is right. She has always wanted to be a super hero, but one that protects people money instead of fighting evil.

When she meets eccentric Emerson, (think of a hot version of Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory) wanting to see his family’s gold and something just doesn’t add up they end up fighting a bigger than they could have ever foreseen.
